We are happy to update you on the process of recruiting the new International Coordinator: after many steps, research and interviews, we have opted for Ettore Marchesoni from Italy! We asked him a few questions in order to get to know him a bit better:

1. What was your motivation to apply for this position?
Personally, it has been very interesting to discover SCI as an outsider, and appreciate its commitment to values that bring humanity together. It was refreshing to read about the commitment of many individuals from almost every corner of the world to causes that promote active citizenship and invite intercultural understanding. I saw the role of International Coordinator as a good way to get involved in SCI, making use of skills I gained during previous experiences to support the work of the International Secretariat and the organisation as a whole.

2. What are some of your impressions from your first days in the office?
I am very positively surprised by the efforts and enthusiasm everyone is putting in their tasks. Seeing volunteers and staff from International Secretariat and all other SCI members work together is really amazing. SCI was quick to make me feel welcome and part of the family.

3. Any expectations you would like to share?
I think SCI has a lot to look forward to, with its 100th anniversary approaching in 2020. Joining SCI as it prepares to celebrate such a fantastic milestone is a great opportunity, I look forward to helping SCI share its history and achievements with everyone out there!
