EPM 2017 took place last week!

After two successful Exchange Platform Meetings (EPM), SCI organized the third EPM from 15-21 October 2017 in Val-de-Saâne, France.

The meeting was hosted by SCI France and organized by the EPM Prep-team consisting of members from KVT Finland, SCI Belgium, SCI France and IVP Indonesia.

The Exchange Platform Meeting is an opportunity for SCI branches, partners and contacts to meet in order to:

  • discuss volunteer exchanges and quality of international voluntary projects,

  • share best practices for organizing workcamps, and

  • critically reflect on SCI’s vision and SCI’s role in the global volunteering world with the aim of creating inspiration for the whole movement.

This years’ EPM (2017) focused on several core topics, including:

  • volunteering vs. voluntourism;

  • how to improve the quality and impacts of our projects; and,

  • technical discussions and evaluations that had arisen during the year.

In total, over 60 participants attended EPM, coming from Asia, Europe and Africa. Some proposals were created in EPM that will be put towards the IEC (International Executive Committee) and ICM (International Committee Meeting), with the intention to better shape the activities of SCI and the future cooperation with contact and partners.
