Welcome Morgane!

On Monday, 17 September, a new volunteer joined us at the International Secretariat of SCI in Antwerp - Morgane from France. She will be the new Tech volunteer in our office, replacing Geoffrey, who will finish his year of volunteering at the beginning of October.
We are glad to introduce Morgane to all of you with this interview!

Hello Morgane, how did you come to know about the volunteering position with SCI and what was behind the motivation to makes you apply?
I just finished studying to get my Master’s degree and I wanted my work to be useful, that’s why I decided to apply for the Tech volunteer position at SCI. I am going to be helping everybody in the office with all things tech-related as well as maintain and work on the websites. I really like that I can use my skills to work for a cause I believe in.

Did you have volunteering experience before and did you know about SCI before?
I have volunteered in various ways in the recent years, from helping an Emmaüs community with the day-to-day matters to volunteering online. I really enjoyed all these experiences.  Though I did not know SCI before finding out about the position, I found out that the values of SCI are very much aligned with my own values and that made me want to work there.

What are some of your impressions from your first day in the office?

I had a great first day at the office. The atmosphere is relaxed and everyone was incredibly nice. It really feels like a family!

Any expectation from this upcoming year that you’d like to share with us …

I plan on making the most of this year. I want to learn as many things as I can, technical knowledge as well as some Dutch. I love travelling, meeting new people and discovering cultures, and I think this year should be a great opportunity in these regards.

Good job Morgane!
