Refugee Fund enables 13 projects in 2016/7

The 18th of December is the International Migrants Day, and SCI want to celebrate it remember all the project support during the 2016 thanks to the Refugee Fund.

The Refugee fund, one of the three funds of SCI, has had a successful year. All in all 13 different projects were funded by the Refugee Fund in the form of projects and actions with and for refugees, lowering barriers for locals and refugees to connect and promoting mutual understanding. Besides workcamps, also trainings, info evenings, volunteer weekends, parties and other events were organized by branches all around Europe in order to raise awareness on the issues surrounding those seeking refugee and to help social inclusion..

Next year the Refugee Fund team would like to encourage branches and working groups also outside of Europe to apply for funding. In order to ensure the continuum of the fund, SCI encourages everybody to  support the Refugee Fund on the Ammando fundraising page. We also encourage branches to take the initiative to plan creative fundraising events. The Building Bridges toolkit will provide ideas both for fundraising, such as guidelines on how to organize a fundraising dinner, and also inspiration for refugee related projects that could be funded by the Refugee Fund in 2017. A little help goes a long way!
