International Secretariat

IS, the International Secretariat of SCI is located in Antwerp, Belgium and its function is to bind and support its Members. It leads the movement toward its strategic goals, builds on achieved results and amplifies its impact. Currently four staff persons are working here together with four Long Term Volunteers and one intern.

Who are the people at the International Secretariat?

Sara Turra - International Coordinator

Sara is originally from Italy and she has been living in Belgium since she started to work for the International Secretariat, back in October 2012. Sara is the coordinator of IS and an ex-oficio member of the IEC, functioning as a link between the two bodies. She takes care of planning and motoring the developments of Plan of Actions and makes sure priorities and needs set at ICM are incorporated in SCI actions. She dedicates quite some time to project and grant management and represents the organisation externally in various events. Ossi Lemstrom  - Finance and Administration Officer

Alena Čápová- Project Officer

Alena from the Czech Republic has been living in Belgium since 2011. She brings with her a wide experience in project management and in the volunteering sector. Alena takes care of projects within the IS together with Sara and Chantal. She is currently in charge of two projects: Peers to Peace and Branching Out: (re)connecting ideas. Chantal Doran - Communication and Volunteer Coordinator

Chantal was born in Curacao and grew up in the Netherlands. She completed her education in Scotland, the US and Japan, studying international relations, sustainability, and peace. Chantal oversees all of SCI International's communication activities, tech platforms and coordinates the long-term volunteers at the International Secretariat. Sonja, from Serbia joins us as part of the Building Bridges Together project. Sonja will mainly be supporting and monitoring the Building Bridges Campaign, while also being a creative force behind our fundraising initiatives. Morgane Quilfen - Service Civique Long Term Volunteer

Morgane is the second volunteer joining the IS with the french Service Civique Programme. She will be giving us Tech support at the IS as well as working together with the Tech Team on improving our Members Area and other platforms. Zahra joined us from SCI Sri Lanka. Nicolai from Germany is active in SCI Germany for a bit than two years now. With just finishing his Bachelor degree in Management & Economics he participated at the Project Management Seminar of the Peers to Peace Project and decided to apply for an internship at the International Secretariat to gain more knowledge and experience in planning, running, and reporting international projects.
