Flooding in Sri Lanka

We would like to express our condolences and show our solidarity to all those that have been affected by the recent natural disaster in Sri Lanka. Below we share the following message from our local branch. We will continue to bring you updates from SCI Sri Lanka and SCI volunteers as well as information on any additional workcamps that may be organised.

"Dear Friends,

Most of you have probably heard about the unprecedented natural disaster that occurred in Sri Lanka in the last week. Nearly 4 million people have been affected with 25 dead and 175 reported missing. More deaths are expected. Whole villages have been washed away and people are undergoing severe suffering. SCI intervention looks beyond our imagination and emergency relief services are mostly being handled by the military. In the coming weeks we would investigate/explore the possibilities of organizing a few work camps to clear the debris and help the displaced to return to their original places – thank you for all those who have already expressed their solidarity and cooperation.

Kind regards,

Raju, National Secretary of SCI Sri Lanka
