In 2016 SCI ran the following projects: Global Volunteer Action and Memory beyond Rhetoric.

Global Volunteer Action

Global Volunteer Action is SCI’s global project. It focuses on youth volunteering in Europe and Asia (and beyond). There are several challenges that youth and voluntary service organizations face nowadays, and Global Volunteer Action aims to find a common space where they can be shared and discussed, a space that will provide and create common solutions.

The activities planned for Global Volunteer Action will take part during 2015 and 2016, empowering the volunteer positive impact all over the wolrd: From Sidney to Hong Kong through Rome, Barcelona, Sofia and Athens. Here you can find the complete agenda.

Memory beyond Rhetoric

Memory beyond Rhetoric is SCI remembrance project. A project focused on WWI and the growth of the pacifist movement in Europe. With it, SCI aims to promote a mature idea of peace, anti-militarism and non-violence. SCI’s remembrance project critically analyses the image of soldiers-heroes and wants to contribute to a real understanding of the history and diversity of the European Union, which was created as a peace guarantee.

Memory beyond Rhetoric includes the organization of seminars and activities in some of the most meaningful scenarios of the First World War, such as the international seminar in Verdun, France, where the “Battle of Verdun” was fought in 1916 and where Pierre Cérésole organized the first SCI workcamp.
