Volunteer Circles by CVS Bulgaria

Each year, there is a special day, dedicated to all special people who try to make a difference in the world – dedicated to you, dear volunteers! This is 5th of December, The International Volunteer day, when volunteer organizations have the chance to specially present their causes and to show to the wide audience what volunteering means for them.

CVS Bulgaria took this mission seriously this year and organized a special event called "Volunteer circles" in collaboration with Sofia International Film Festival and Dom na Kinoto. The intimacy and the fulfillment of each circle was entrusted in the hands of the organizations from various fields. Thus, the Eco Circle was represented by Association Balkani and Fondation "Nature school – Vlahi", the Animal Rights Circle by Animal Rescue Bulgaria, the Social circle by Caritas Bulgaria and all the rest of the circles – Culture, Urban , LGBT, Education and Refugees, by different devoted organizations.
The idea of the event was to bring together people who want to volunteer and organizations from Sofia.

Before the opening of the info-stands, the visitors had the chance to get to know more the Refugee Project, which is running since 2010 in collaboration between CVS Bulgaria and Caritas Bulgaria. The EVS volunteer Marta (from Poland) and the volunteer of the project Slava led an interactive workshop on the topic. Right after it the visitors saw the short documentary "Good Will" (2015) (26min, directed by George Angelov/scenario – Angel Ivanov). The documentary tracks the Refugee project and goes inside the refugee campuses together with the volunteers.

During the organization fair, Multi Kulti Collective and Action Food presented their delicious miracles, showing us how food can be reason for communication (even friendship) and consumption can be done in a smart (meaning healthy for you and for the Earth) way.

According to the registration forms, the event was visited by more than 150 people! Some of them experienced volunteers and others – ready to make change new ones! This wouldn't be possible without all the inspiration from SCI branches every year and, in particular, the help of Giorgia (SCI Italy, currently working on a project in CVS Bulgaria) who organized the whole event together with the the intern Martin (from Brazil)!

But most of all, nothing would make sense without all us, the volunteers. Let's continue to discover new meanings of the volunteering every year, all the time, and continue to work for better world and humanity. Happy Volunteering!
