What Next? Journey from Volunteering to Active Citizenship

Posted by projects on Feb 24

INEX-SDA has been engaged in an E+ project which brings together partners from 4 countries to support international volunteers into active citizenship.

The first resource developed for the project is a research paper, ‘Engaging Returned Volunteers in Active Citizenship: research, learning and best practice from four countries’.  Based on literature reviews and the results of a survey disseminated throughout the EU, the report identifies 12 steps to active citizenship for international volunteers.

Drawing on collective expertise of Comhlámh (Ireland), Volunteering Matters (UK), INEX-SDA (Czech Rep.), and finep (Germany) and following a pilot course that took place in Czech Republic in autumn 2016 (you can check out the photos here), organizations have also developed a training manual for engaging returned volunteers.  Called “What Next?”, this resource provides support for the four stages of the journey from volunteering to active citizenship and is available here. Feel free to use this resource when planning your post-camp events and share it with your trainers.
