Asian Platform Meeting - July 2016

Posted by projects on Jul 19

Last Saturday the first Asian Platform Meeting for 2016 took place in Bangladesh. At the APM representatives of Asia-Pacific SCI-branches discussed matters concerning the development of SCI in the region. Regional exchange and common projects were some of the topics handled by delegates of 6 SCI-branches and contacts. The meeting went smoothly and was completed in nearly 5 hours. But SCI would not be SCI, if words were not followed by deeds. In this respect SCI Bangladesh organized a workshop on Sunday (extended on Monday) on Non-Violent Conflict Resolution, while at the moment still practical work is being carried out in a mini-workcamp.

Sachhida Banepali from SCI Nepal shared his experiences of the workshop: “The Non-violent Conflict Resolution Workshop was started with the facilitation of Mr. Nasir Uddin Ahmed in very relaxed mood In the Khalia Peace Centre. The dense greenery and heavy shower offered us a special natural environment. Around 25 participants discussed their personal experiences of conflicts and how they overcame them as well conflicts that are common to us and how we can handle them. The weather became unsympathetic for an outdoor camp work so the day was utilized by extending the NVCR workshop for enthusiastic participants. Today we are enjoying learning about communication and the approaches of non-violent conflict resolution with the efficient facilitation of Mr. Nasir.”
